Forbidden from selecting Edwin van der Sar, Ferguson chose Cech followed by Victor Valdes, of Barcelona, and Julio Cesar. The Inter Milan player won the goalkeeper section by a landslide (only Van Gaal and Ferguson failed to give him top points). Even Wenger, not known as a great judge of glove-men, nominated Cesar, just ahead of Iker Casillas and Pepe Reina.
